Default Just bought 2 new rods because

I had to.. I had my boat pulled out of barn to change blades on mower and had turned ceiling fans on, well you can guess where this is going, backed it back in and there went
3-4 in. off each rod, one a Gander Mountain Guide Series and the other a 20 yr. old 6`6 Shimano Aerolite rod that can not be replaced, best /most sensitive rod I've ever owned..
bought 15 of them marked down to 19.99 at Meijer's when they were like 180.00 everywhere else, gave away all but 5 of them and they all ended up broken.
Bought a new Fenwick HMX 7`6 2 pc. and a 8`Diawa SpinMatic both had great reviews, haven't owned either so if you have please let e now what you think of them.
Now just waiting for them to ship.

Watched one of the fishing celebrities do that on a bloopers reel. Believe it was Rowland Martin. Hope you new rods do great.

Nah, that was Bill Dance. Rowland isn't humble enough to do a bloopers video.

I have salvaged broken rods by making a 2" sleeve of the appropriate inside diameter from an old non-salvageable rod and epoxying the broken piece back.... didn't seem to effect rod performance.

Hmm. Seems like I've used that one before to git me a new rod.
Seriously, hate to hear something like that. In 1996, our house burned down and I lost all of my dad's and mom's Abu Garcia Crappie rods and reels, I got from my mom after my dad died. I'm still sick about that. Hope the new ones work just fine.

Is the spinmatic the new D series?
I have the older version in 6'6" and 8' (now about 7'10") and like them for panfish. Sensitive tip with enough backbone to land bass and catfish.

The same thing has happened to me several times. I got tired of replacing / repairing rods st I started making PVC carriers for all my rod and reels. Inexpensive, fun to make and it solved the problem of my carelessness.
