    It works year round. Location and depth to fish will change. White or green lights work and they do not have to be in the water. I use clamp on style with a DC fluorescent bulb. It lights the water plenty to draw bait in and also helps me see my rod tips. Stren hi vis gold or something similar helps see the line to help detect light bites or line movement.
