Texas Lost a Great Fisherman
Hey all Just had to share a story of a good fella and good friend, as well as a Retired Fireman on the Volunteer Fire Department im on. Don Sunday who loved to crappie and catfish died yesterday (03/01/07) on the operating table while having back surgery. This guy loved to fish and had a great time doing it. I just wanted to share a little story about Old Don. Two years ago several of us Firemen, including Don, went on a Fishing trip for Hybrids on Bridgeport Lake. Well we rented 2 rooms that were adjoining. Well Don and another guy decided to go to bed a little early. The rest of us stayed up playing cards. Well the ""REFRESHMENT"" Ice chest was in the doorway of the adjoining rooms. Every time the chest was opened it would make the loudest squeek. Every time we opened it to get a COOL REFRESHMENT Don or the other guy would get woke up and say a little something "not very nice". Well us guys playing cards got to bed around 1 am. Well all of a sudden at around 4 am all we heard was the loudest sueek that kept on and kept on. We all looked up and theres Don standing there yelling get your butts up its time to fish and how the heck does that squeeking feel lol. Well later that day we all ran out of bait and well someone had caught a very small crappie and didnt do it any justice getting it off of the hook so it died. Well someone decided to cut it up for fish bait. (YES I KNOW IT WASNT TOO LEGAL). Well were going across the lake and guess what pops up beside us? The Texas Game Warden Boat. Well Ole Don slowly slipped that crappie in a plastic bag, dropped it beside him and put his jacket over it. Then along with that he couldnt find his fishing liscense. Once he mistakenly gave the Game Warden his AARP Card. Well he finally found it and that Game Warden didnt find the Crappie. It was one of the best fishing trips ive ever been on. I ask that all of you pray for Dons Family and I will tell you what he was a dedicated fisherman and loved to take his Grandkids fishing also.
