WOOO! Dang, get the harpoon! That's a stud. Great fish no matter what he was fishing for. It would be a lot of fun to catch one that size on some light tackle. Congratulations on the new state record.

Almost as big as the current KY state record Crappie (a 4lb 14oz hydrid) from 2005. But a much, much better picture of the Illinois fish !!
Current Illinois record is 4lb 8oz from Rend Lake in 1976 (Black Crappie), so if the dorsal fin count is indicative of a pure Black Crappie ... then this one will take its place as the new state record Black Crappie. (KY does not distinguish between Black, White, or hybrid Crappie in their state records)
Wow that is a awesome crappie!
that fish is ridiculous large for sure ......several of us have chatted about it recently ...what a flat out for sure WHALE crappie ....
Congrats,What a slab
Going to put it in an aquarium? If it's not going to the taxidermist, then get all the measurements and turn it loose back into its home lake?
Or, fire up the grease and release her to Canola Bayou!!

Ok, so how old do you think a crappie that size is? or has he just ate well?
