Even my PD V2 that has auto pilot keeps my hands busy with other things. The I-Pilot is such a step up that I think of it a lot of the time I fish. The anchor feature especially. If I replace what I have now it will be another Riptide with I-Pilot. My current motor has been a real winner for me, flawless performance for over 5 years, and I use it hard.

You just missed a great deal on one in the classifieds. I made my first trip out this past Saturday after putting on my terrova auto pilot .its totally amazing how much easier it was. It Made my trip so much easier even in the wind I could set the continuous on and put it on auto pilot and and adjust the speed and it would keep me sitting in same spot .i pilot would be even greater with the ability to save 6 routes and 6 different spot locks. And the remote . I want ever go back to a cable unless its my only option.

I bought he XI5, last year and the only regret is not buying it sooner, I think if you have Lowrance Systems this would be hard to beat. At one time I hated staying out on the water when the wind was blowing and trying to control the foot control motor, I think this is the best piece of equipment I ever purchased, hands down. The Anchor mode is dead on the money.

You need to look at the mk ultrex. Little pricey but worth it.

I need to check and see if there is a update. Never really been happy with spot lock. Over corrects then it's just back and forth They need to change the software using the gps to know the direction of travel so the darn thing just drifts back to the spot instead of driving back past it then past it the other way.
Never been in a boat with a motorguide x5 I would recommend you seek out some folks locally and see how they compare before spending the big money on one of these units Just my 2 cents

The newest style with Bluetooth doesn't do that. It stays right on where you hit the spot lock.

I bought the xi5 and love it for the spotlock feature. It works really well, and you will wish you had bought sooner.Onething though using the handheld remote can be tedious but you'll get use to it. I love being able to fish in the wind and stand anywhere in the boat and fish.
