Default Something old and something new

Getting a new rig together for this season, figured I'd try to put a little more old school into my kit. I already use some great vintage gear, but this one will be an upgrade for sure!

Rod is St. Croix 8100-L from 1956-58 (old) according to the decal styling. It is getting new guides in a modern spacing, those are on the way. Reel is an Okuma SV-25 I picked up for a killer deal last year (new). I've just loaded it up with P-Line Floroclear 5#.

This rod is quite nice for its age, it's hollow fiberglass construction (industry innovation) and 6' light/moderate action, 2 piece and weighs in right about 4 Oz.

Can't wait to get this right done and in the water! I've been using a custom built for me 20 years ago by my great uncle, and am looking forward to putting that one up on the shelf, finally.

My candle burns at both ends; it will not last the night. But ah my foes, and oh my friends - it gives a lovely light.

Didn't know they were around back then. Cool redo, looking forward to seeing the results.
