    Default Best depthfinder/ GPS unit??

I am looking to buy a depthfinder/gps combo for my boat and was looking at the Lowrance 480M. Anybody have one or would you recommend another unit? Thanks

I have one and have only one complaint. It does loose signal sometimes Other than that... Sonar works great and GPS will put you within three ft if you have the area zoom to the max. The maps load fast... I wish I would have spent the hundred and got color. You may be just as happty with the X15MT. That used to be about a grand and now you can find them for half. Bigger screen and you wont miss the xtra watts. I don't fish to 1500 ft either.

Your comment "I have one and have only one complaint. It does loose signal sometimes Other than that..." What signal are you loosing....GPS or sonar??
If it is the sonar, where is your transducer? mounted in the hull or mounted outside?
I had a Lowrance depthfinder and demanded that the transducer be mounted in the hull, I just didn't want it mounted outside. After three months I had to breakdown and have one mounted on the outside, due to the possibablity of an air pocket or void in the hull under where the transducer was mounted.

I've been looking very hard at the new Lowrance LCX27C. 7" screen and 2 card slots so you can have your hot spot card in one and record on the other.

I love my Lowrance. I am going with the Humminbird side scan this year sometime. The only problem is the PRICE!!
    Thank You,

If it is within your budget, get a color unit. A Lowrance LMS-520C or LCX-27C. Both are new models for 2007 and replace the 332C and 25C respectively. You can also save a little by getting the Eagle equivalent to the 520C.

I currently use a 332C and will be adding a 27C very soon.

    Speck Chaser,

How does the sonar on the 178C compare with others. If looking at only one unit, primarily for the sonar, would that be your choice or something else.

    Thanks
