"TERRO" Ant Killer The liquid ant killer contains BORAX.
Place some waterproof plastic lids on the ground around the power cord. Place several big drops of this liquid where the ants can "smell" this liquid. They will drink it up and carry it to the nest, feed it to the queen and the workers. Kills them dead. I may take several days to see the evidence of them not returning to forage away from the boat.
Comes in 1.0 FL. OZ. plastic bottle.

Maybe I like to simplify things: Why not hang the cord instead of running it on the ground? Or at least keep it off from the ground? Just a thought.

I've also heard that apple cider vinegar is used to ward off ants as well as a mixture of 50/50 white vinegar to water.

You guys are missing the point of WHY the ants are coming back. There is something in the boat that is attracting them to it. You should do a thorough cleaning of your boat first! Then and only then you should treat the area where the ants are coming from. Ant killer granules around the tree or area the ants are coming from and they eat and take the poison back to the nest and they will die. Place a trail of the granules around your boat or in the area the ants used to get to the boat with. Once the weather changes the ants will subside but right now you have to eliminate the food source.

If they are carpenter ants , then what they are eating is the wood in the boat if there is any. The best treatment would be Termidor that works on termites and ants.
