I have found useing them that you get a more solid hookset into the roof of the mouth instead of the lip, its because they have a wider gap

Wont hardly use anything else...they are awesome just keep an eye on the point they are so light they can roll over if you hit something but can be fixed by straightening with your thumbnail.

Just received the first I have ever ordered.(Matzuo) think the spelling is right.
Have found the sizes compared to other hooks to be smaller. For example the 3/0 Matzuo compares in size to the Mustad 1/0 wide gap hook. Just my observation. Nothing wrong with that, but when ordering it would be good to be aware of the differences. Pop

I use the sickle hooks on the jigs that I buy that are hand tied and also I use them for my bare jigheads with plastics. The wider gap really helps I think with better, more accurate hook sets when using bubble belly type baits.

    And they are very sharp.
I think most people really like them once they use them.

NJ has a good point. A lot of the sickle hooks that I get, and I've gotten in the habit now of checking as I'm tying it on or as I'm pouring the lead, have open eyes. Your line will slip right through them. It took a few missed fish, with no hook, but my loop knot still in tact to realize what was going on.

You have to be conscious of it. It's a pain, but the benefits I think outweigh the disadvantages. IMHO.
