Easy! As you can see in the photo, the LED lights are protected inside the tube. The way it's designed, the tube floats directly downward (NOT sideways) with the black wiring section floating on. It came with a separate rubber suction hook at the bottom just in case you want to hook weights to sink it deeper, but I don't need it and threw that piece away. It is the perfect, durable, and easy light to throw out next to your boat. The wires are also plenty long to move it around my 17.5ft ski/fish fiber glass. Lasted me a few years now and still working perfect. The sinking LED light is just less stress on your eyes when fishing at night. There is a lot of different crappie lights out there, just depends on your boat set up and personal preferences. Even a simple propane lantern hanging off the side of your boat is also effective too.
