nano fill???

Getting ready to respool my reels. What do u guys think about Berkley Nano fill. I do mostly casting/jigging and use quite a bit of slip bobbers early. I herd it's a palamar knot is the only thing that will hold. Just wondering what's everybody's thoughts were on it.

I use san diego jam knot.... too hard to get palamar loop through small jig eyes. Nanofil is great for casting, super sensitive, only down side is poor abrasion resistance and cost!

I've heard both positive & negative remarks about it, but haven't tried it, myself.

I've settled on 6lb Vicious Panfish hi-vis copoly for my jig casting/dock shooting duties, and have had no problems with it.

Nano-Fil is a fused line...many long fibers are fused together instead of being braided, this results in low stretch, sensitivity, and Great casting ability. The downside to this line, like other fused lines, are poor abrasion resistance (like Cache 22 said), and line strength is normally exact and rated at the knot.
People also complain of cost but I fall into the category that believes, "You get what you pay for!".
I used Nano-fill for 2 years on a casting pole....now I have quit using it because the New Braids out will cast just as far, and don't have the downsides.
IMHO, it would be better to spend your money on a Good, solid core, 8 strand braid...you get a soft, round, EVEN SMALLER size, that casts just as well, is stronger, and handles better.

I have been using Nanofil going on the second season now but only on two of my reels. Not so sure I will buy anymore because of the fray issue . Im thinking of trying braid after I use up the Nanofil. Mr Crappie # 6 is doing pretty good right now though.

I recently strung a 6'6" casting pole with it, I am impressed with how far You can cast it. I actually tied a paper clip on the end to show My buddy how far it cast! A double palamar knot is preffered seeing its so slick, and I have noticed if You dont use a sharp pair of sissors or nail clippers its hard to get a clean cut, but I am willing to put up with the flaws for now.

I'm thinking I will have problems with a bobber stop. Leaning twords 4 lb mono I guess. Does anybody make a good 4 pound fluorocarbon?

Which brand of braid do you recommend? In past experienced lots of problems with wind knots using braid, none using nanofil.

Jeff, I only use flouro for leaders, bigger diameter and stiffer than nanofil and will not cast nearly as far.

Nanofill is stiff, due to the fusing process, that's why they can tout it's casting ability, but don't like to talk about the fraying (and it WILL break at less pounds, when weakened by frays)...I have used braid since it first came out and still experiment when ANY new kinds comes out...I have never had line twist or wind Knots...but, with a Spinner, it will peel off, if you fill the reel too full, and don't watch when opening the bale in windy conditions.

I use Seaguar Smackdown Tourney Braid...8 Strand, Solid Core, round, small, super strong, soft, easy to handle ....I can get it on EBay for 20 to 24 dollars with Free ship....at Gander Mtn, etc, you will pay $29.95. I used Diawa Samurai before and it is also very good, but the Smackdown is even smaller...IMHO, the rest are cheaper $$ and a step or two below these...I fish alot of cover, rocks, etc, so I spend the Extra so I don't have to worry...normally I get 2 years out of a spool...after the first year, I respool on another reel and use the back half! So really it does not cost as much as other cheaper braid that you respool each year!
Just try a few others and see which ones you like the best for your fishing!
