I been using the ones Pappy mentioned from Grousfly for years. They cant be beat in price and function.
Y guards work for me, been using them for many, many years. Not sure how much money I invested in making my own weedless jigs when my supplier didn't come through for me. Tip: bend the ends of the Y guard down so they lay flat over the tip of your hook. Then take some pliers, hemostats, etc. and open the hook a little. Now throw it in the nearest brushpile. That's about it.

I have some weed guards but at this time of year while in shallow laydowns i use a 1/32 or 1/16 jig and put a plastic on it ,then cut most of the lead head off where it will barely sink yet if not too windy i shoot them over the brush and real slow move the bait and most fish will come up and hit it as i let it slow drop just a little ways,so bait rarely get hung before fish hit it. I let it fall deeper as soon as i pass last limbs, caught 50 friday doing it that way.gave wife a weedless one but she would not set hook hard enough so i had to make her one like mine, then she started catching them

Do you have a link where i can buy some of these?
If you're referring to Grousefly's weedless jigheads ...
PM: Grousefly
Email : [email protected]
Phone : 606-642-3167
And if you're considering ordering in bulk, be sure and let him know you're a member here as he does offer discounts to members.
He does offer many different versions of "weedless" jigheads - as far as head shape, hook size & color, and weedguard style and color :
While I'm sure he's not the only one that makes weedless jigs, and he does make the orders in the "first come, first served" format (& it could be a bit of a wait if he's very busy at the time of your order) ... he is the one that makes them for me & my fishing buds, and has for over 15yrs, specifically the top center (brush style) and my favorite to the right of that one ... the Y guard style.
Thank you. I was referring to Bonehead Stick Guards. Any links are appreciated
Oh, OK !!
But, while they weren't "Bonehead" brand "stick guards", I did try another brand and they just didn't work very good or very long. After setting the guard back on the hook point a few times, they were just too chewed up to hold. And even when they did hold, like the first few times you put them on, they always seemed to have a tendency to flip inwards (bellying towards the hook shank) and negated a lot of their "weedless" capabilities. That was the major impetus for me to originally go to using the now discontinued Oldhams Weedless Crappie Jigs, which had a thin wire loop as a weedguard. They worked better, but just barely, because the wire loop was so thin that it was very easy to bend it all out of sorts when taking the jig out of the fish's mouth. Right about the time they were being discontinued being made by Terry Oldham ... I ran across some locally made jigs with the Y shaped guard. Once I ran down to my last one of those, I had Grousefly start making them for me, and never looked back.
I probably still have a partial package of those stick guards, and I know I've got a bunch of the old Oldham's jigs ... all buried in the deep recesses of tackle boxes full of stuff I haven't used in decades.
And FWIW ...
I looked on Bonehead Tackle's website store & didn't see any "stick guards", so maybe they don't make them anymore
But, I do know that Bass Pro Shops does have their own brand of stick guards.
in one of Richard Genes videos he showed how t tie a piece of 80# test line on the hook to make it weed less/ snag proof. That's what I do...
