How accurate are crappie fish checkers?

Those won't be accurate down here on our big 4. The fish are so thick from spine to belly they won't go down into the checker all the way. Especially with our 12 in limit on 3 lakes and 11 on Sardis. I use a golden rule and scribes a mark 1/4 in over 12. They can't be just 12 they have to be over. Our Wardens use a golden rule and if your fish is close and measured on a Golden rule they will use your checker.

This discussion is exactly why I purposely catch all short fish. No measuring....just drop over the side
