    Default Boat carpet or bedliner?

The carpet in my old bass boat is getting in pretty rough shape. Bad enough that ill have to do something about it this season. I'm not talented with cutting carpet corners and it just kills me to hafta pay someone several hundred bucks to install carpet for me. I'm heavily considering using a marine grade roll on bedliner specifically the durabak product. It's supposedly got uv inhibitors to keep it from fading and the grit is some kind of a processed rubber. The coast guard and navy have approved it for use as a non skid coating for wet areas so I'd think it'd shed fish slime like a champ. Has anyone on here ever used this product, or any bedliner type coating on their boat? Opinions on doing so? Here's a couple pics of the durabak

I looked into that product. Looks good. I figure it would take about 1 1/2 gal to do an 18' Bass Boat. 2 gal gives ya a little left over for touch ups and would set ya back about $270 with ship'n (sold by the gal). Even at that it's probably cheaper than having carpet installed and would probably outlast the boat.

You might PM Jigflinger on here. He did a bunch of research and phone calling last year to find the best product to use. He might be able to help you out. Seems there is plenty of does and dont's when putting down the different products.

We used to use spray in liner on our boats we build at Gator Trax years ago. It was done professionally by a Rhino Liner facility close to our shop. It was a nightmare. If they spray it on thick enough to last, it was too heavy. (had to add like 30lbs or more of sand to the mix and you would STILL bust your butt when wet and break your neck if you had mud on your shoes)
If they sprayed it thinner to lighten it up, it would peel off in about a year to two years. This was spraying it over BARE CLEAN aluminum that had been primed with a self etching primer. Bottom line...it will NOT last...when it fails you WILL have a holy mess...it will be JUST as hot as bare aluminum in the summer, and it offers ZERO traction, stopped using it years and years ago.
