Size:  41.6 KB Today was what is know up this way as There Gone Day. We get our waterways back after Labor Day. Had the launch all to ourselves. We boated 20 slabs. largest being 15 3/4. All were 11 or above and all were released.

    Those are some of the prettiest crappie I have ever seen. Until you started posting pics of your catches, I wouldn't have believed they grew that big in Maine.

    I do have a question; I'm a taxidermist who is always looking for reference photos to use when painting fish. Would you mind if I copied some of your photos for my own use? I would never consider selling them or using them for personal gain other than for reference. Thanks.

    You go right ahead. One of my fishing buddy's also mounts. He has done 3 for me.

    Thank you. Were the fish your buddy mounted crappie? How big would a crappie have to be before you would consider mounting one? You have shown lots of pics of fish that you released that are much larger than many my clients have brought for me to mount.

    I have a 15, 16 and 17 mounted. So I guess bigger than those and a state record. In the last 30 days I have released at least 10 that were 15 and better.
