October - When and where?

Long, long time reader of this site, now a registered user!!
Avid crappie fisherman but have had limited success the last couple of falls. Wanting to take vacation in October - probably the week of October 9th. Any suggestions where fishing might really be picking up at that time? Looking towards Kentucky/Tennessee.

Welcome aboard Fishincrazy. October is a great month for Fall crappie in many mid-latitude and southern states. Tennessee certainly produces ample fish and Mississippi is making a name for itself with the big ones. Of course, I'm partial to south central Arkansas. Using the internet to do some research should be a wealth of information for you. Good luck and I hope you have a great vacation.

By Oct. Kentucky & Barkley lakes should be down to winter pool & stableized there. Up By Ky Dam end of the lake is a great location that time of year to crappie fish. Being on the North end of the lake you also have the option of getting over to Barkley if you want to. Two lakes for the price of one.

welcome from Kentucky I would think Dale Hollow or Watts Bar lake are good choices.
