I'm a newbie at this as I haven't tried it at all yet. I had a brainstorm today and tied this up for my first experiment, which will be for trolling a spoon for the Spotted Bass that are thick at Normandy Lake close to me. One end is a ball bearing swivel to take up the twist, and the weights are 1/2 oz I think. I don't think a swivel would be necessary once I switch to Bandits. So tell me what you think. I know about the 3 way swivel set up, just had to try this on for size with about a 3 or 4 foot flouro leader in 12lb.

I put a 3oz sinker on my main line followed with a barrel swivel. I then tie a leader with a crank bait on the other end of swivel. Works great for me We caught large crappie as well as several #5+ bass at Ky Lake last summer..The sinker lets you control the depth you fish.
The only thing better than a day of fishing. Is a week of fishing.

If you are going to push crankbaits at 1.6 to 1.8 mph.....you will need a three oz. sinker. You need a 30 inch leader from your sinker to your crankbait.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Skeet if your going to pull that I would just put the weight on main line then 24/36 leader with the swivel at the spoon. Use a split ring to attach swivel to spoon. If your going to push you would just have to make a long cast and rotate your holders out to the side. If your going to push up close then like G said your going to need 2/3 oz weight to hold it down and then you could run 2 off the side and 2 out front. All this and not to say your rig won't work, it will. I actually have some similar made up but I used a straight spinnerbait wire and twisted eye on one end, slid on 3oz weigh, bead and twisted another eye with swivel attached. Then 30 in leader.
Depending on size and type of spoon I might just put weight on line, a bead, and swivel. The weight won't really affect how your spoon would work being separated by swivel. Take some weights and powder cote them one at a time using a piece of wire then they work as an attractor.

Thanks everyone. 3 oz just seems like a lot of weight, guess I just have to try to see if it's for me. I'm not much for "meat" fishing but that pushin thing just peaks my interest. I'll post when I get it done.
Seeker, we still catch some good ones now and then. Woods is the one that has changed a lot in the past 2 years. Used to do well over there but they aren't like they were, might be a stage of the lake maturing.

ScottV and EZ Poleholder off the Sippi board make and sell some crankbait pushing rigs that are really nice. What u are trying to make sounds exactly like what they produce. They were advertised in the classifieds this fall. Hope this helps and good luck.
