I am tempted to buy one.

If I recall correctly they beat the fish up and don't remove 100% of scales. Filleting is the way to go!

I do prefer filleting and only scale a few crappie for the boss lady. I wanted it more for bream.

I currently use spoon, but am always open to easier methods. That is if those methods work.

When Toledo Bend opened back in the late 60's several of the marinas had them. They looked like a big tumble dryer at the laundry mat. I thought they worked well, keep in mind we were cleaning up to 300 bream a day back then.

I have used a handmade one that worked very well on bream. It did not turn very fast and you could put about 25 bream in it at one time. After scaling I took my electric knife and cut out the rib cage and the head, easy as pie.i believe with a little ingenuity a fellow could make one that would work just fine.
