Air Bladders

What do use to clamp the weight to a crappie that is floating because of full air bladder, If this is what you use to correct it?

You have to use a syringe to deflate the bladder, before releasing.

The FishClip is being patented. We been using them for years on the crappie tournament trail. I just drill a hole in a piece of wood the size weight I like and go to Radio Shack and get the clips and put the clip in the hole and pour some lead around them. I powder coated mine to keep up with the weight. I have found if you let the fish flop in the boat a little they usually won't float to much.I use to fiz them and that was a pain. Sorry no pics.

Ice fishing depth sounders have been used for many years. Very similar to those "FishClips" shown. Nothing new there. Can't see how they can justify a patent?

"Fizzing", or poking a needle into the fish's air bladder, can injure the fish if not done correctly ... and not that many people really care to take the time to learn how to do it. It can also cause infections at the injection site, as well as internally, if not done under fairly sterile conditions. But "fizzing" is generally used for fish that are being, or will be, released. These "fin clips" are for keeping the fish upright, while in the livewell. This is to keep the fish from struggling to right itself, allowing it to gradually deflate its own airbladder. While it may still cause some damage to the fins, it would appear to be less damage than poking around in the fish with a needle.
