    Default braided line

I tried braided line a few years ago and hated it, casting sucked and the line was not smooth. I saw power pro now has slick line so i ordered some 10# to try mainly for verticle jigging. Anyone using braided line? if so what brand and how do you like it?

I have been using it for the last few months on my jig poles and love it. After looking around a bit i found some 6 pound test fireline and spiderwire. This line looks more like sewing thread but super strong. Crappie never see it, same diameter as most 2 pound test lines. Use the smallest line you can and watch the numbers go up!

not to bad if your only doing a single jig.. but if you use loop knots for a 2nd jig I have found that the line slips out of the eye on the jig.. kinda frustrating some times.... also I feel that it is easy to get tangled up with other lines if your ploes are to close together... caught a small catfish one time on the braided line and in the fight he sure made a mess!

I have used it since it first came out for bass fishing and crappie. Had all the problems everyone has had with tangles, nots slipping wind knots when casting. Still use it because of feel, and strength to diameter ratio. I use Cajun Red, Suffix orange Powerpro yellow for spider rigging, pulling cranks and jigging. They all work well. Just my opinion though is that Fireline is the best for jigging poles and casting. Docent tangle as bad or wind knot on you and it sinks better than regular braid.

I never liked it either, but in the last year I've been trying different braids and they've made a lot of improvement on it. I seldom cast, mostly vertical jigging. Of the ones I've tried, I like the Suffix 832 best. It comes in hi-vis and doesn't seem to tangle and wrap on the rod tip near as bad as the old braid did. I've had one of my best winters this year, using 20# high vis and tying 2 loop knots....one for each jig with no problems.

I use braid on my jig poles, but havent had any luck casting. Cabelas has some on clearance if your wanting to try it out spending an arm and a leg. I ordered some of the 15 lb last week and love it so far. Good Luck.

I use the yellow power pro 2# its rated 10 # use it for all my crappie fishing, after you tie it, leave about 1 inch of line so it can pull and not loose your knot

I've been using Fireline 6# on my four B'nM Black Widow rods for spider rigging. Have it spooled on Bucks minireels (level winds), and tipped w/ 10' of spider wire 4# test. Had issues w/ "birds nests" at first, but that was me getting crazy settin' hooks w/ those long rods. No problems now.

I use power pro 30/8 on my linecounters reels to pull cranks and 20/6 on my spinning reels that I longline jigs with.
