Ok let me give you some history of my boat. It is a 73 Glassmaster, a 03' 115hp four stroke Suzuki. (This boat, motor and trailer had been thru Katrina but was serviced as soon as they could get to it after being allowed back in.) Was working down in New Orleans when a coworker said he had a boat to sell I ask what it was he told me and I said I'll take it. That weekend another coworker and I went over and took it out. The second the key was turned it fired up, no winding to get it started. Runs like a top. Before leaving New Orleans I put a new axle, springs, hubs, and wheels on trailer. Rewired the lights on boat. Last year I rebuilt the deck and I am in the process of glassing the deck to protect it from rot. I am also having to do some glass work on the hull. Cost so far: original cost $1000.00, new springs, axle tires, etc, $600.00, I have a little over $200.00 in glass and cloth so far, I have had about $500.00 of work done on the motor (but that was because I messed up in the river. And the best part I don't have any payments. I recently found a bass boat hull like I want but didn't have the $300 the fellow wanted. Was a nice looking hull. Any way I hope you like the old boat and my firstmate.Name: 101_1553.jpg

Great boats. Way ahead of their time back then. There was a James Bond movie (I love all the Bond films) in 1973 that featured a chase through the marshes and bayous of SE Louisiana that had all Glastron boats in it. I bet they destroyed a dozen boats shooting that movie. My dad had a red and white glastron with a 33 (Pretty sure it was) hp Johnson. That was a fish catching machine and the most durable boat I have ever seen.

Check this out, you may have bought more than you knew....

My palns for the Glastron are to finish the glass on the deck and put in new carpet. Followed by three more swivel chairs and of course a depth finder, a row of led lights around inside. Finish and a new gelcoat application with color change.

My dad and I caught thousands and thousands of fish in a boat a whole lot like this one (motor was a Merc I/O). Dad wasn't much of a fisherman but he loved to get out and get after them. I wish I could go back in time and go with him again.

I do understand what you are saying. It had been my dream for along time to retire and be able to fish with my dad on a regular basis anytime we wanted to go. But it was not to be. He passed away a few yrs ago. There are a lot of things i wish we could do together. Kids today just do not realized what they will miss when that happens.

    To the memories!

I'd like to hear the story on the guy who bought a new zook 115 for that old boat, I'll bet it's a good story.

I do not know how the old girl came to have this motor on her. The guy I worked with had owned the marina it was at before selling it to relatives. He told me that a insurance ageny owner had owned the boat ant that this guy was real anal about stuff. Stuff like it would taake him three tubes of grease just to grease the boat trailer. Said you could spin the handle on the tounge jack and it would go almost all of the way down or up depending on which way you spun it. It had at some point two depth finders plus there is a bracket on the side for something he would slid into it on the water. Had a marine radio with twin antennas. Heck when I bought it the guy I got it from had to take the paperwork to the insurance guy to ge it signed so I could transfer the title. He never had it in his name. I was told that it had gone thru Katrina and the deck showed that. Once they could get to it he took it to the shop and had them go thru it. Like I said it runs like a top. For what I gave for it and what I have since put into it I am still on top.

I agree, that Suzuki motor is a dandy. My first thought was that you almost stole that motor, and could put it on a newer boat. But then I realized it was a Glastron and it all made sense.

After I got it I went to the insurance office and ask about insurance. The agent I talked to ask me how much the motor was worth.I told her since I had gotten it as a package from a coworker that I didn't know. She found two dealers that had the same brand, year and hp for sale one wanted $4500.00 and the other wanted $5000.00
