Default Crappie Camp in Arkansas - Update number two

I created a new thread cause the previous Crappie Camp Thread went on for almost 300 posts. Here's a link to that if you feel you missed anything, but I thought it would be best for all and the "software" if we started a new thread.

    http://www.crappie.com/gr8vb3/showthread.php?t=13761

Anyway, I had a great time. I drove down Sunday, fished Monday and Tuesday morning and got back home Tuesday night. I want to thank Big "J", crichardson and Jerry Blake for taking my friend Bob and I out fishing on their boats. I had plans to stay longer, and I had plans to bring another friend and our own boat, but plans don't always work out the way they are supposed to. In any case, I had a great time. No-one has anything on Southern Hospitality, you guys and gals (can't leave Kim and Vonna out) are awesome. It was great to meet each and everyone that I was able to meet down there. Sorry I missed out on meeting some, but there's always next year.

The weather was great (except for the two tornados we seen on the way down there near Memphis on Sunday night). Terrible news from Cane Pole about his cousin. I feel terrible about that, and having witnessed that particular storm, I seen some of the devastation. Mother Nature can be very wicked indeed. I wish everyone the best who knows anyone that was part of that storm. terrible, terrible stuff

Anyway, the fishing left a little something to be desired, but the comradery and just being out doors in that beautiful area made the whole trip worth while.

Some fishing video of the trip still to come. So much more to say, but so much more work to do before I catch up on life! ttyl

Vonna, THANK YOU for your post in the previous thread. I was perfect. Don't forget, I owe you and Paul a free trip.

Sorry everyone had to leave before the weather stabilized and the crappie, bass, redear and catfish started biting more aggressively. Landing a 12lb.8oz. channel cat with a 12' jig rod spooled with 6# test using a 1/48th ounce hair jig is awesome fun.

I look forward to next year.

    Darryl,

Please don't let your customers hold their arms ALL the way out straight...It really takes away from the fish instead of making them look bigger. In any fish photo I take, I want to see a bent elbow.

I dunno, but to me the only one with straight arms is that guy in the middle. If I had a big dude holding up the other end of my string of fish, I'd prolly have to hold my arms out straight to keep em even too!

but then... just an observation.. :p

Man, I have got to start watching that "bent elbow" thing - I didn't even know people were interested in elbows!

crappie elbow, I call it. Kinda like tendenitis, but.........not really. You can really hurt yourself trying to hold out those heavy fish with a straight elbow. Don't want to have a lawsuit out of that you know.

Also, could you possibly make sure that there is a girl in a bikini in every shot, that would be nice.

Well we made it back, just wanted to say it was a great time,
even if the fish didn't behave for me. Only negative was there were not
enough hours in the day to talk to everyone and fish both -
if you were at one spot hearing a good tale, you could bet you were missing
one at another! Make you stay up late, afraid you're gonna miss
something Jerry and Darryl are as good a fellows as you could ever hope
to meet, and I want to thank them for the hospitality they have shown me
Nice to meet you too, Ed - hope next time we can find time to go fishing
together, try some of those pet crankbaits you were showing me.
Well, time to go pay the rent catch ya'll later.

    Hey Brian,

We're supposed to get VHS videos of Wildman's show.

Keith's article should be in the May issue of Mid-South Fishing and Hunting News and I got an email the other day saying he wrote a similar article for ESPN Outdoors and should be under "Fishing" on this page soon - http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/g...features_index

    Hey Jeff:

Good to hear you made it home safe and sound. I'm glad we got to spend a little time yacking and fishing - wish it could have been longer.
