Good to have you aboard! I know you'll find useful info here and it sounds like you can impart some too!!
Good morning everybody, as a new member of this site I just wanted to start off by saying hello, and that I,m looking forward to learning and sharing crappie fishing. I live in central Arkansas and fish every chance I get. Caught the crappie fever many years ago from my papa who lived at Mellwood and retired to Okeechobee. He loved those slabs and taught me alot. Which I intend to pass along to my three daughters. Thanks in advance for all the help and knowledge I know will be gained from you all. And I hope that i can help some of you as well.
Good luck to all

Hi 3girlsdad,
Welcome to the board. I just joined a couple of weeks ago as well. I live in florida. Do you still fish Okechobee? I have been interested in going. Thinking about fishing in the crappie tournament there in January.

Thanks for the welcome everybody, and FLSLABHUNTER to answer your ? no I have not been to Okeechobee since I was a kid, early 80,s probably. MY Papa passed away in 90 and lived here in Ar the last few years of his life. BUt I wiil never forget the fish we caught and what I saw him catch year after year. When they would come for Christmas each year they would bring multiple coolers full of fillets. I have never seen a place give up so many big crappie. And by the way my Granny taught me how to fillet down there in the Fl. sunshine too. What a great place to learn.
Good to have you.

The memories of your grandfather sound like fond ones. My father moved here 2 years ago and he and my son have been building some fond memories of our own. We have found some incredible local lakes the last couple of years. We caught over 150 fish during Thanksgiving weekend. I will keep in touch and let you know how we do if we go to Okeechobee. Let me know if you ever get back to Florida, and we will try to get together and maybe hunt a few slabs.

Welcome aboard 3girlsdad. I am looking forward to your post.
Birddog,
I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day. And when it comes to my last cast I then most humbly pray. When in the Lord's great landing net and peacefully asleep. That in His mercy I be judged, BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP.
