Thumbs up Got on the Ice today!!!!!!!!

Well, I got out this am and managed not to get into some fish. The most ice I found was 2 1/2" in the 2' of water.I ended up fishing on ice about 1 1/2" thick (CREEKY ICE ) over 6' of water to catch my fish and it was a slow bite. ICE FISHING IS THE BEST !!!!!! :D

Hey Cody, Have you ever logged on to this site http://www.iowaoutdoors.org/index.php ? There is allot of members in your area on that site that would be happy to have ya tag along ice fishing with them.If you make it over my way C.R. I'll be glad to take ya ice fishing and I have enough gear for both of us.There's a tackle shop over here that sells bulk jig heads and plastic's too.If you do get into the ice fishing here's a good site for you http://teamicehead.com/forum/index.php .Both site's are very local site's,out of Des Moines.Don't foget to check the Iowa section of this great site now and then.

Default Yours are bigger than ours

We don't go out until there's a good four inches of ice, but that fish sure looks nice. We will have first ice by next w/e, but I doubt we'll see safe ice before January. Never know, tho. Be careful out there. - Roberta

1 1/2" of ice.............. what do you weigh, 60lbs? At my weight, 235, theres no way i'm going out there on that. Good luck and bless you. No fishing is worth going thru for, even in 2ft water !

Lee, it's been close to a year since I've fished Odessa and I only live about a mile from the lake. Does that tell you anything about my faith in that lake? I'll probably give it one or two tries this winter. If I happen onto something, I'll contact you. But be ready for good long hike.
Right now the lake is at duck season levels, with ice forming. They'll be dropping it soon though I imagine. That might make for some slippery slopes when going from the shore onto main lake ice.
