Just about every b&m rod I’ve ever owned has broken on me. Even my newest model from Russ Bailey but I liked it so I bought another one. I’ll leave the bgjp models for you guys with better luck than me. The only model that has stood the test of time for me from them is the Richard Williams model. It’s a lot heavier than any of the rest I’ve had from them. I use wm and jenko rods for jig fishing now.

I use a blue/green brush cutter that is 25 yrs . old and two 12 ft . Sam Heaton to jig with . Have used pro staff and Southern crappie rods tp spider rig . Both are great rods but stiffer than I like . I use 14 ft. bgjp's and if I break one I will gladly replace . I was having trouble seeing light bites and these with 1/2 oz./ weights are awesome . Capps /Coleman put me on these (new model ) and other than a pro model Ozark I find nothing equal . That being said I net everything , and now want a set of Capps / Coleman to power troll with . I broke one pole in 30 yrs . of crappie fishing . Poking jigs off timber is bad for them .lol I will say that The ACC crappie stix will flip a fish in the boat and slap a poacher off your spot . They all work but must fit your style fishing , hook set and care .

Is this a decent rod for jigging a jig or occasionally tight lining a minnow on Crappie around brush in 3-14 ft of water?
IMO, no it's not. I have 2 of the 8 footers. They're fiberglass rods. Not sensitive at all. If you want a 10' BnM for jigging or tightlining get a Bucks Graphite Jig Pole. Much better choice IMO

Fished a bunch of different rods and my 10 ft b&m tree thumper is the best combo of weight, sensitivity, and power I've used. Rear seat and cork grip can't do without.

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

i have to say that about B&M company, i called there twice trying to get some tech info on rod info like backbone and tip flex, no help. i asked if there was anyone there who actually fishes with their rods to a better idea on what to order, no luck. going with a wally marshall or maybe grizzly jigs might have a tech person who can answer some questions.

I'm having that issue with catfish rods. There are a bunch of people pimping them, but when you ask for technical info, it's hard to come by. I find a lot of frustration when looking at websites from KastKing and Piscifun.

I would like to know what I’m doing different than everyone else. I’m not gentle with my gear and have only split one BnM rod in the 13 years I’ve been on this site, and didn’t know about them before that time. I called customer support about the split and had another in 5 days. I have a bunch and have sold a bunch when I changed styles of fishing. They’re good rods IMHO and lighter than some of the other offerings from other makers. Most all of my gear does at least double duty and I’m not disappointed. The West Point rods are fiberglass so to compare them with a graphite is apples to oranges. The guides are also smaller than I was comfortable with. A person new to a style of fishing might use them to get started and learn what he really wants, but they aren’t junk. Sorry to hear of some folks bad experiences, mine don’t follow that line.

So far my BnM rods have proved worthy of having a place in my boat. I have no complaints at all with mine so far .

I don't deal with "customer service" personnel when I contact BnM ... I ask to speak to Jack Wells (Owner) .... period.

I have several BnM rods and have had flawless success using them for what they're designed for.

I was asked by Mr. Wells to be a field tester for BnM's Duckworth FnF 8' Crappie rod. I received the rod and there was a guide insert that had been knocked out of one of the guides during shipping. I told him about it and suggested that I could easily have that guide replaced by a friend for a few $$ and I'd get to using it shortly after that. He told me to just keep that rod & he'd send me another one, which he did.

Maybe all the people that knew specs were out fishing that day. I've owned many rods from b&m and broke very few of them. They have all been handled justly. Some I paid for others were comped. Everyone I have talked to has always been able to answer my questions. Including the ladies upfront or even maybe more so.
