Default "U.S. Reel" Brand of Spinning Reel

Considering purchase of a U.S. Reel brand of spinning reel. Specifically the 180 Model. Any used or have any experience with this brand of spinning reel. I specifically like the large diameter line spools. Any thoughts, comments, or opinions? Bass Pro has them and others stores, as well.

    Default US Reel

I may be wrong about this, but if your buying that brand because it says ''us'' and made in America, I don't think it is.
I think they are making them in China now, I could be wrong, but seems I read something about that.

The reviews I have read were not good.

They have always been made in china and has always been one of my least favorite brands.

If you want a wide spool reel, take a look at the brand new Pflueger wide spool. I'm sure it's a much better reel for half the price. Cabelas and LandBigFish carry the reel.

BPS also makes a wide spool which I'm sure is also far better than the deceptively branded U.S. reels. It's also on sale right now besides having its regular price lowered from 100 to 80 bucks. At 70 looks like a good deal. I'd personally check out the pfluegers first though.

Us reels are not worth the money.

Go to BPS and get the Signature series Johnny Morris, usually around 75 bucks, they are getting rid of last years model for 50 buck right now. Well worth the money, I have two of them and they are awesome wide spool reels.

When they first come out with U.S. reels they were made in St louis. They are now made in China along with everything else.

I think I saw on a fishing show that Ardent reels made in Missouri are the only American made fishing reel, but don't hold me to that.

Ray Scott former owner of BASS is their spokesman!!! The first year they were made in the US in St. Louis but all manufacturing was moved to China.

I have a buddy that had one and the old Zebco Cardinals are better reels. If you can find one of the original ones that isn't beat to h*** you MIGHT have a reel.
