Truthfully NO!!!!!! I've caught just as many fish on unpainted as painted, but I like them to match with the materials I tie so I paint them.

-1 Depends on several different factors. While fishing Crappie tournaments all over the south, I learned that it does make a difference one of my favorite lures is the lime and char. triple ripple and on my home lake and 2 more close by my fav. head color is hot pink. so when I would begin on those new lakes I used my fav. pink hd. and lime and ch. grub and on some lakes they just wouldn't bite it and one day I was changing things around and put the lime and char. on a white head and couldn't believe the difference it made. That is just one of the many examples that I have.

I think a contrast in the colors help. Like a neon, head dark body and a bright tail. That way you have 3 contrasting colors. But hey!!,,,No one but the fish knows for sure. When someone learns how to ask a fish what he thinks and it talks back,,,,let me know.
I feel very sure about jig head color being a factor. If you fished the lakes I do, you too would believe in it also. I have played around with different colors on bodies and jig heads and know that it definantly makes a difference.
After a front moves thru I go to a Red RR 1/16th jig head with a pearl bubble belly tail. You would be amazed to see what happens and how agressive they are to the lure. Even different shades of a color will make a difference. EB
