    Default New Old Lake

After my dismal showing at Louie, I was looking for another place to fish. Windy day made choices such as Larto seem like a bad idea. A friend told me he had a good trip on a lake in the area. I fished it with my dad when I was in high school. Haven’t been there since. Dad and I fished for bass, so this was the first time I fished for crappie there. I didn’t remember it being that hard to get to, but the last time I was there was 1964. Decent launch, bumpy road, one truck at landing.

Caught a couple fish right away. Then I Livescoped some on a drop off in 11 fow Eventually caught close to a dozen almost all females. Fun trip. My new fishing partner didn’t catch any, but he was interested in a goose that was swimming around.
Fun day!! I’m glad to find another place to fish!Name: 3DE68C0E-3561-4BC4-8817-F9C0B5D1FA07.jpeg

Not a bad trip for not being there in years! I can tell by the name of your pup that he is Pure bred, I guessing AKC. Beautiful Black lab! Thanks for sharing with us.

Had trolling motor problems yesterday, so I checked it out when I got home. Corroded connections on charger. Cleaned everything up, fuse holder corroded, broke fuse
trying to clean it. Battery not doing well also. Got an Interstate battery to replace it. I think I am done with Sam’s batteries. Had to try it out, so I went back. This time no shiners! Two patterns. One in water less than 18 inches deep. Caught 3, but it was very windy, which made boat handling difficult. Went back to 11 foot deep point, fished chartreuse jig or Roadrunner, with red and yellow plastic body. Added chartreuse nibbles. If I put the jig just above the crappie and either slowly raised it up, or just held it still, about half the time they would bite it. Caught about a dozen. Broke a big one off trying to swing it. Didn’t really have time to clean the fish, as I l’ve got to work tomorrow. When I got to the landing, a man and his wife were pulling out. They said they had a couple. I asked them if they wanted mine. They lit up like Christmas lights!! Triple win!! Caught fish on jigs, made some folks happy, and I didn’t have to clean fish!! Not to mention, catching fish without shiners!! Another lovely day in paradise!!
