    Default Lake Martin 2/13/23

Haven't been here in years and, with water high and rising in my usual spots, decided to give this place a try. Was chilly to start in the morning and only a few other trailers in the parking lot. Figured with water still in the low 50s that they'd be deeper but I think I was off on that. Most of the boats I saw throughout the day were working the cypress trees in shallower water. Not sure if they caught or not, though.

Picked off just a few with a bonus bass fishing the duck blinds mid lake. I'm pretty sure they're either already spawning or staging to spawn. Anybody fish this lake and have any pointers on where/how to fish the spawn there? Wouldn't mind trying again.

I hear you. I have a feeling that it's a very hit and miss place. It's a relatively small lake that's likely overfished.

Not sure about the spawn, but in the summer hit those duck blinds again. Throw up under it back in the shade, I have worn them out several times. I see from the size of your boat the ramp must be open again, last I was there the ramp was closed. Some kind of dispute between the parish and a land owner.

Yes, the ramp did reopen. Yeah, I figured shaded duck blinds in that deeper water should be good when it warms up.

Never fished this lake , but I would be swimming a jig up tight to the cypress trees. I find they prefer a cypress tree with some brush around it or saw grass .
They should be starting to spawn that far south.
