    Default First Livescope Fish

Got Livescope 3 weeks ago. I didn’t know it came with a jinx!!
When I got it, the plan was to put it on my trolling motor. Looking at various ways to do that made me worry about damaging the cable to the transducer. Also I priced hardware to attach it, and the fact that it would be very hard to take it out of the boat for storage. I decided to get a pole mount from Seelite.

Then the jinx set in. Trolling motor started acting up. The the starter went out on big motor. It is an old Evinrude Ficht. I thought it was the Bendix, but turns out it was the starter itself. I found a used one on EBay for $75, that came with the Bendix. When it came in I tried just changing the Bendix. That didn’t work. Changing the starter is much more involved. I watched all the YouTube videos I could find. Changed it out and found the culprit. The ground wire on the starter was loose. Put it back together and started it up. Started easily but revved too high. Found a electrical connection I missed. Started easily and idled well. Going fishing!!
Got to Louie yesterday and launched. Big motor wouldn’t go above idle. Trolling motor that I found the negative battery cable had corroded in two, but it was hidden by black shrink tubing. Went home and fixed trolling motor. Thought I fixed big motor, but no. So big motor putts around at idle and trolling motor only runs wide open 24 volts.
The good news is I caught 7 crappie. I saw so much more cover that I had not seen!
Made an adjustment on big motor and it seems good.
    Trolling motor need 2 parts.
    I need a nap!!

Rough day. The blessing is you caught fish and were able to repair the gremlins yourself. Oh and you didn’t have on water trouble leaving you stranded.

    Thanks!!

I really could have been in a bad place. Two weeks ago I was fishing outside of Scofield Bay, near Buras. Not many boats out there!!

I did meet a really nice local bass fisherman who clued me in on a couple Evinrude Ficht mechanics! Ordered a part from Trolling Motor Shop that should be in tomorrow. 50/50 chance that will fix it!

Good luck with it. My terrova acted up last trip out but it was because the cord to the foot pedal was severed by my seat pedestal base. At least my big motor held up. When I got home i was flushing the motor and noticed water coming from under the hood. Water hose leaking. Have to change that also. BOAT. bring out another thousand. Lol
