    Default Afternoon Trip

Went back to Monterey yesterday along with half of Concordia Parish and Southwest Mississippi. Word is definitely out but the bite has slowed. I wouldn't bite either with all those boats going over the top of me. Caught 25 kept 11. White and Monkey Milk Mo Glo seemed to be what they wanted. 4 to 6 foot down in tree tops. Hard to fish when your boat is being bounced like a cork. Where did common courtesy go? IMO if you're on plane and go by someone, you create less of a sustained wake. Throttling down to half way and letting 2 foot rollers go out the side of your boat seams to be worse. I had one guy come by at half throttle just a waving at me, he thought he was doing the right thing. Put it this way I wasn't to pleasant with him when his wake came over my bow and soaked my Garmin screen and my shoes. THINK PEOPLEName: IMG_20220303_195345632.jpg

Question for y'all about this...does it matter about the size/speed of the boat? I've watched large bass boats flying across the lake at top speed, which may not create as much of a wave, but a smaller boat and motor would be moving at a slower pace. Would full speed make much of a difference, compared to their half throttle? I personally slow to a crawl when I pass people in the channel to minimize the wave, but I'm not sure my full throttle would be a big improvement over half for a larger boat. Interested in opinions.

Personally, I think going slo is the way to go.

Glad you caught them. I avoided the crowd and went to Louie. Put in near Harrisonburg. Caught 2 tiny crappie 9 feet deep on the bottom in a tree top. Tried most of the things I know with no luck. It was a beautiful day and “I will rejoice in it “ .
