    Default Amite/Blind River

Good morning. Got the Christmas decorations and hunting gear picked up off of my boat and it's getting to be that time. Going to venture out and try some new water in the next few weeks. Any tips for the Amite/Blind river area? Will launch out of the Canal Bank Club landing. Appreciate areas to avoid as much as areas to fish. Thanks in advance. 6IM

Yeah. That's a big concern... where not to run is more important to me than where the fishing may be good.

Fished the Amite by Fred's and the division canel but have never caught any good fish all have been dinks. That being said I heard of some nice ones being caught.

Try to find some eddies in deeper water. Some good fishing north of Fred’s but there are some stumps and down trees the farther you go so take it slow after the last camps. Also have done good south of Fred’s. I like structure in deeper water. Don’t avoid murky water with a little current. They may be there and some are nice like this one!

Thank you sir. Are you able to run the amite or is it a no wake zone?

Around Fred’s it’s a no wake zone but you can run most places.
