    Default New to state

My brother just moved to Lake Charles last spring and is looking to fish that area. He’s been traveling to Texas to fish but I’m sure he can find some where closer. Will somebody make some suggestions for decent panfishing in his area? I’m invited to come fish with him this winter or spring.

That part of the state was hit by 2 major hurricanes last year, both having massive fish kills. The WLF has started restocking some lakes but thats gonna take some time to rebound. Toledo bend is probably ya'll best bet.

He’s been going to TB to fish. Not doing very well there yet. He’ll get better as he’s a very good fisherman. He’s got new everything and will have to learn how to use them. Any other smaller lakes or ponds anywhere closer than TB? I’ll help him do his homework before I make the trip there from Pennsylvania.

I'll have to agree I've been trying every so often since those storms came through summer before last and it's dead over there I don't even see anybody else trying

He said he fished some ponds yesterday and the brim had spawned and were guarding the fry and it was hard to get them to bite. Said he didn’t try crickets but he will next time. Thanks for the info fellas.

Man how did I miss this post?! Sorry. As most have already said, the hurricanes did a # on us last year! My favorite marsh got really messed up and probably won't be good again for a couple years. There is Lacassine but it won't open until March 15. For panfish and bass that would be your best option. For crappie, there is Bundicks, Annacoca (it is drawn down right now) and Vernon. Bundicks is the closest being an hour from Lake Charles.
