    Default Thanks a million 2

When I posted my “thanks a million” post there was a lot more to it. I’m using my iPhone and somehow it only posted the title or at least that’s all I can see.

I wanted to thank all of you for your prayers and thoughts. It’s comforting knowing that others are aware of our situation and praying for us and that some are also doing things to help.

We were offered several places to go to for the storm. Some offered a place to stay after. While we are so thankful for the invites we are staying home because there is a lot to get done. While we suffered no damage to our house others around us didn’t fair as well so we are doing what we can to help.

We finally got water back on. Before that it was bottled water for everything. We sourced water from the bayou to flush the toilets with and took sponge bathes with bottled water. You don’t how convenient running water is until you reach for the handle on the sink for the 1000th time and nothing come out, not even a drop

Power might be out for another two weeks or more. We are running the house on a 4500 watt portable generator. We have come up with a system for keeping it all going by plugging and unplugging wires as needed. We have extension cords running all over the place, probably 300 feet or more. Keeping the generator fed is the hard part. Most gas stations are closed although a few are opened for a few hours as gas is available but the lines are long

This is where good friends come in. I have one who makes a couple of trips a weeks that brings me 15 gallons which is good enough to run about 36 hours. Another friend came all the way from Leesville with 80 gallons to spread out to those in need. He filled all my empty cans and would have given more if I had cans. We had a member and his wife drive down from Shreveport to bring us 15 gallons plus all sort of other supplies. A special thanks to them. Another member is coming tomorrow with as many cans of gas that they can round up possibly 10 or more. This time I’m ready with a 55 gallon drum to store it in. I’m also looking for another drum. The power might be out another 2 weeks or more according to power company estimates. That’s a lot of gas. Maybe by the time I use that gas up we will have more local gas. If not I will take the drum and hit the road to find some.

So as I said in the beginning A Million Thanks and Blessings to all.
    PPG

Great attitude and great that you are able to help your neighbors with their clean up.
I know how frustrating it is, because Lara left us without power for 17 days!

Prayers for y’all and constantly thinking about all affected.

Glad to hear you and Mrs. Linda are doing ok and helping others when you can. That is what the south is all about to me! Randy, 17 days is a long time without electricity! We were without electricity for 38 days, and 28 of those days we were home doing exactly what PPG and them are doing. Running water is definitely a blessing, even if you have to take the COLD showers! Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help!

Ice is another thing I missed on the long power outages. No shortage of work for Electricians during those times.
Y'all stay safe. Look out for the repair crews
