Heard of chicken coop in Toledo but never heard of a Hog pen or Black Hawk for that matter. Hope you get the info you are looking for.

They are both located in Three Rivers WMA just the east and north of Simmeport. Never fished either, but I have heard of them when the fish are biting. I'm not sure what stage the Atchafalaya has to be there for the fishing to be good. Do a search on the forum and you might turn something up. Although its probably dated info. Good luck.
Only need three more years before I can think like a fish.Gper thanked you for this post
They were catching good about a month ago, couldn't find a parking spot with all the Miss. license plates. Not a single post on eather board. As far as river stages the Black river at Acme or Simsport guage on the Atchafalaya River probably the closest to Hog Pen.

Thanks for the info. I found it on Google maps. It sure looks like an isolated place.

Fish it maybe once or twice a year. Usually in March and April but haven't taken time to go this year. Red and chartruse 2 to 3 foot deep around tree tops. When their on it's great when their not it makes for a long trip.

I use Red River gauge at Alexandria. It's 21' now, I like it better at 30' and falling. Good luck if you go.
