    Default Red River Crankin'

Made a quick oxbow trip this morning. Water had come up a bit and the rain had the water stained. Temp was all over the place too. Anywhere from 71-83 degrees. Managed to scratch out a mess. Word must be getting out as there were two other boats in there with me. One was pushing crank baits and the other was long-lining jigs. I said, "Come on in fellas, the waters fine".

Someone gave me a lot of crank baits, and I keep thinking I'd like to try it on Cypress in Bossier, but I need to get a better trolling battery first. And I'd probably just have to hold a pole in each hand, which could be fun. lol

Be careful what you wish for. It's addicting. My first try at this was June 1, 2016 at Larto. I caught 25 that day. Been hooked ever since.

That's a nice mess. Were the other boats catching?

Yes they were catching some. The guy pushing had four rods out. I watched him catch a good bit. The guy long-lining jigs only had two rods out. Didn't see him catch any.

Other than your title of 'crankin', I don't see how you caught them. Does that mean casting? Depth, bait, color? If you don't mind saying. Just curious how they'd bite in hot summer on an oxbow like that. That's a good mess of fish.

Trolling Arkie 350's and Bandit 300's about 7-8' deep @ 1.5mph. Find the bait balls and you'll find the fish.
