Been many years since I went crabbing but we used to go to Cameron and park along some of the canals there. From what I understand now, they made it illegal to park alongside the roads so I was told you can't do that anymore. Anyone know of some places to try before I load up everything and drive 2.5 hours down there, only to get disappointed?

You can go to Price Lake Road at Rockefeller refuge in Grand Chenier. Sabine Wildlife refuge, in Hackberry, also has several areas that you can crab off of the road. I would call first and make sure they are open. I am pretty sure Rockefeller is open but not sure about Sabine. The road going to Rutherford beach is also good at times and I am pretty sure you can park along that road as it is not a main highway, The road that goes to the beach. All of these places are free to crab but just be aware, if you are crabbing on a refuge, you WILL need a fishing license.
