I use the Pflueger reels also, but I am changing to the Zebco Gold underspin- they have 2 line pickups, makes a lot of difference, also the Zebco gold is a nice well built reel.
Good morning all:
For some years now I’ve been using these small Pflueger trigger spin reels.
Paired with an Ozark 9 ft rear seat jig pole it’s my much preferred setup for jigging trees and brush while trolling.
As the reels are fairly cheap the line pickup is not the best. I’m using 6lb Mr Crappie hi-vis line. After a day of hard fishing yesterday the line pickup fails often. I could probably strip off or change the line but who wants to stop and do that on the water lol.
I like to pitch and move, about half the time holding the rod with right hand and line with left. Other times rod and line with right hand.
I’m curious for those fishing this style and method what reels you use and why.
I’d love to find a solid trigger spin that’s well made, higher quality, very lightweight, consistent line pickup, small form factor. Seems like most choices are pretty similar to what I have now.
Anything else out there?

I moved to the Lew' SpeedCast. Similar reel, that seems more quality. It was about $20.00 at Academy.

Ive been using the zebco 33 gold under spin for two years they work great. I do take my bait off after every trip and take the line out into the yard to get rid of the twist, helps alot

I used open face spin reel. The brand isn't as important as it having an infinite back stop and smooth drag. A smooth drag is a must since I lstrip more line often.

I’m using a zebco micro 33 trigger spin.
Not bad, small frame and spools/unspools good.
Usually can get one for 20.00
