Henderson's a tough place to learn. The water level changes all the time and certain areas clear up faster than others. The pros can tell you where/when that occurs based on river levels. I'm not that pro! I've done well at certain times but I always feel like I'm chasing them out there.

Go a little further to Whiskey Bay. The fish move around out there, too, but I find it's more consistent and not as crowded. It's not as quiet and scenic as Henderson but I can almost always catch a couple meals per trip.

hthoang I did not know people fished that. On the map it looks like the atchafalaya river. Are you fish little bayous off the main river channel? Where do you launch the boat to fish whiskey bay?
    Thanks

That's the whiskey bay pilot channel. When I say whiskey bay, i mean the canal under I-10. There are launches at either end of the canal. I usually launch at the west one because I'm coming from Lafayette-exit 126. Some people fish that side canal called the work canal but I usually stick to the bridge pilings. They move around in there so just try different areas until you find them. Don't waste time on more than a few pilings before moving. Good water and bait usually means fish.
