Lake Verett used to be the premier lake for sac a lait in south Louisiana, both in size and numbers. Hurricane Andrew did it in by killing millions of fish. I'm glad to see it's coming back.

Ok, I have never fished down that way, I usually go toward Natchez and La that way to fish all the oxbows in that direction. Just thinking about looking at some new water.

Yeah, but you gotta use Night Crawlers for bait.

I fish 7 days a week; some days for fish, everyday for men.

I gave it a try Friday after Thanksgiving....1 small catfish and 1 gou... and a gar broke off at the boat. Plenty of shad in the deep water, but no one was catching many crappie in that area. 1 man had 3...another had 1 and a bass. One boat with 2 men and 2 kids had 5 catfish. Wish I could time it right so I'd have a decent trip since I don't get to go often. Now I've got 2 houses (1 aunt and 1 friend) that both need to be cleaned out. Aunt is in a nursing home, and the friend had to move to Missouri suddenly...lots of stuff left behind, so we're trying to help when we can. Means weekends are busy. ugh... sometimes doing the right thing isn't so fun.

The right thing is not always easy and only the courageous take the least traveled path.
