Poverty Point isn't the lake it used to be. They say you can't fish a lake but they have that one. I've seen as many as 72 boats in the first chute in the winter and people keeping everything they caught. D'Arbonne is still a good lake but it's headed in the wrong direction and if something doesn't change soon it will be very evident in the next few years. So very true! I won't get into the argument of size control, I will just say what I use to do and what I do now. I use to keep 9" and up and keep all the big fish I caught. Now, I try to keep only 10" and up and try to release all the ones over 1 1/2 lb and up. If the day is slow, I will keep a 9 1/2"er and I will occasionally keep some over 1 1/2 lbs but I try not to make that a habit. As I said before, I won't argue this, it is just what I choose to do to hopefully preserve the lakes and ponds I fish. I will tell you this, after you release that FIRST big fish, the rest are A LOT easier to release! As my buddy would say, if you don't release the 2 pounders, you will never get the 3 pounders.

Like you I don't intend to argue the point. I'm not a marine biologist so it's just my opinion. I do know that some of if not the best crappie lakes as far as quality and quantity are the Mississippi big four. Their crappie regulations are anything 12" and under must be immediately released and 15 crappie per angler or max of 40 per boat.

I like what Lake Washington was when I was fishing it. Minimum of 11" and 30 limit, allowed to keep 5 under size fish.
