Default Bank/Bridge fishing Black Bayou lake

    Howdy,

I cannot afford a boat in the near future and want to begin my Crappie fishing career in NW Louisiana (Shreveport area). I have seen photos of a wooden fishing bridge over Black Bayou lake near Hosston. Assuming it's open to the public, what bait and line weight should I use? For that matter, where else would you suggest I look for Crappie without a boat in the Shreveport area?

Find a jig that YOU have confidence in.
Fish THAT jig at different depths until you get a bite.
    Fish the ENTIRE water column.
    Move until you find fish.

Without a boat, I personally would go to Cypress and fish the end of the T shaped piers in the park. They go a good way into the water and I think it's about 15 ft or so deep at the end if I remember right. I used to go night fishing there and have caught crappie and catfish from the pier. Some folks take extra lights they clip onto the fence and angle out to different areas of the water as well. I'm not sure if night fishing on the pier is still allowed since I haven't done it in a while, but it's the best pier location that I'm aware of, though that doesn't mean someone else won't know of a better place.

Thanks., Cypress is the closest lake to me, anyway. I'll give it a shot.
