Default I Skunked on Cross Lake. Need advice.

I’m new to crappie fishing. I heard a hot report of someone catching nice crappie skipping a jig under docks out there. I went and tried for 2 or 3 hours and didn’t get a single bite. I had a 1/32 oz jig with a Shad-colored crappie shooter.

. Is there a certain depth of docks to key on? What about fishing trees this time of year? Are shad flicking on the surface important ? I noticed recently with the bass fishing that I only caught Them when there were Shad flicking around right where I was fishing.

Shooting the docks can be boom or bust on Cross. The deeper ones will produce best. Some ppl put structure around their docks find them and you will find the fish
I took my son 2 weeks ago, we fished about 3 dozen docks and found fish on 3 of them
Some ppl call it the dead sea but it has loads of BIG white crappie

Those are some nice fish TGE!

I haven't been fishing lately, but I'd have thought that the cold weather would have pushed them deep by now. Curious to know if anyone has found them on the bottom lately in the deep water. I usually go to Cypress or Caddo this time of year and drive the 18-20 ft water, but you can usually tell by the flotilla in the area if they are biting.

Water was still in the mid/high 60s here. Not sure about there but they're not going deep here yet.
