    Default LAKE NANTACHIE INFO ANYONE

I was exploring on Google Earth and came across this lake located near Aloha, La. It lays just off US 71 and looked like a some good fishing? Never heard of this lake before but it is in driving range of me so if someone could enlighten me on it, I would be extremely thankful. Info I'm looking for of course would be public access to the lake and the possible campsites for my truck camper for a few nights. I would be completely self contained and wouldn't need any hook ups so to speak. I am just looking for a place to "get away" for awhile and do some solo fishing. Thanks for any info anyone could give me.

Ive been there a few times, a total of 3 and only caught fish 1 time. There are 2 launches one at the dam and one off of I P road by Bea's grocery. There are plenty of stumps and no marked boat lanes. The one fishing tip I can give you is to fish the trees that have green sprouts or small branches that are growing.

Thanks Skippa Chippa for the info....It just look like a place that I might want to make a short camping/fishing trip. Its not real far from my place. I'm gonna to think on it. Thanks again....I need to get the boat out and clean the cobwebs off of it...It's been sitting since the hot days of summer and it is time to get out there...

Fished Nantachie back in June with Jerry Hebert of Backwater Boat Repair south of Winnfield. We caught about 30 thick, mean black crappie. Made some beautiful filets. Probably couldn't have done it without Jerry's local knowledge and livescope. Caught a bunch within sight of the landing then a few further up the lake. Was REALLY stumpy- like must have a surface drive stumpy. I couldn't put my fiberglass boat on it without damaging it I think. Really shallow lake- I think the deepest water I saw was 12 feet. Jerry says it is best in the spring and early summer. Said June was going to be his last trip for a while because they can get hard to catch in the hot summer time. Contact Jerry at Backwater Boats and see if he can take you or share some of his knowledge with you. Good luck!

Thanks for the info kjsmith97. I just may try it one day when I get tired of the same o same o here on the Sabine river. Now I have a little more idea of what I may be getting into if I do decide to take my camper/fishing rig over for a day or two. Thanks again,
