    Default Best fishing around Natchitoches


    I’m heading down to Natchitoches next weekend. Trying to decide between grand bayou, cane river, sibley lake, and red river. New to crappie fishing so don’t have crappie experience on any of them. I’ve caught a few trolling cranks and few dropping shiners with a tight line on tops. Not set up to spider rig. Thoughts?

    I've made two trips to Sibley this year and caught nice fish on both trips. Drifting with Shiners in April caught around 30 and pulling cranks in July and caught 17.
    Sibley has some nice fish on it and I have not fished the other locations. You will need to buy a lake permit to fish Sibley and it cost 10.00, unless your are 60 or older. Permit is good for the year and can be purchased from store right across from boat ramp.

    I plan on making another trip to Sibley and try my luck again , either this month or next.

    Remember if you fish Sibley, EVERYONE in the boat needs the permit, not jut the boat driver.
