    Default The Big Dub

I had a slow start catching 3 med/lg keepers and just couldn’t figure them out. The water is the clear, I could see the bait about a ft down and had plenty fish showing up on the fish finder but couldn’t get them to bite. I changed colors, changed sizes of baits then the speed I was pulling and nothing worked. Spot was starting to look at me like come on Chip I need something to bark at. We were making a down wind run and coming to a corner of the lake and made the turn kind of sharp and the outside pole has a fish then I realized we were going almost 2 mph. I don’t generally pull that fast but if it works keep it up. I was telling Spot that we were teasing the bull dog by running past him and slapping him on the nose to get them to bite. We ended up staying till 10 30 bringing home 14 and 1 nice ditch pickle Name: IMG_0861.jpg

After we got home and ate lunch I went outside to charge the battery and saw this big nanny drinking from across the bayou. It doesn’t look like she had her fawns yet. Name: IMG_0862.jpg

I got there about 1:30 this afternoon. I took my daughter and my nephew. Same thing I couldn't figure them out. We caught 5 nice ones and missed about three. I was pulling 1.7mph.Name: IMG_20200814_151751383.jpg

Thanks to all...
Still say ur cheatin with that danged lucky fishin dog Spot.Scratch him behind the ear and pat him on the side for me please.

Nice catch, are you pulling with your outboard? If so, how are you getting it to pull slower? I've tried with my 25 horse motor, and the slowest I can get it, is 2.5 mph

Paris, I had a trolling plate on my 40 hp Merc until I bought my i-pilot. It slowed me down from 2.2 to 1.6 mph. Or you could try a 5 gal bucket or a drift sock to slow you down.Name: 31JvhTpVd4L._AC_.jpeg

    Default Bucket

This is how I slowed down my 25 hp Yamaha. I removed the handle and drilled holes for the rope then cut the pour circle out of the bottom of the bucket. That was just enough to slow me down to about 1.4 to 1.6 mph.
