Default TOOK A FOUR HOUR SHOWER ON THE OUACHITA RIVER

It was beautiful when I first got there but shortly after a slow shower set in. After about four hours the shower was over and it RAINED. I pushed minnows 3-6' for almost 5 hours and only kept 12 good fish and one dink that wasn't going to make it. Tossed a lot of small fish and caught several cats and a couple of bass. The gar was terrible; I caught a boat load of them. Only once have I saw the gar as bad as they were today. I've fished this river lake more than once that I caught 50 over 10" with a pound of minnows and had minnows left; today I used a pound and kept 13.

The picture of the boat at the ramp was a "Mature Gentleman" going fishing. He had left his boat in the middle of the ramp and was at his vehicle. I backed down the ramp and was waiting when he came limping by and said " I'll be out of the way shortly". I "said no problem and good luck". After he got in his boat the motor was in the mud so he raised it and then couldn't get the boat off the ramp. I got out and pushed him off. Again "I be out of the way shortly"; me "no problem; have a Blessed day". I got back in my truck and he was just setting in front of the ramp getting everything ready to go fishing instead of motoring back some so I could launch.
I hope he had a good day; how could you get aggravated at someone as nice as he was and trying so hard also.

That's enough for supper and a midnight snack. I fished Tuesday from daybreak to 830 and kept 9.

I saw “Ouachita River” and was anxious to read your post. Then I saw the pic and realized you’re on the other end of the river. I’m north of Hot Springs where the Ouachita is a super clear water smallmouth fishery.

looks like you had a great day and caught a mess, maybe two messes.

Do you think they're not there this year or has it had too much pressure?

I don't believe they're in there like last year. I think last year was probably the exception and this year I is the norm.

You're probably right but I may give them one more opportunity to escape that confined body of water before it's too late and they have to wait until next year.....
