Default Today's Upper Toledo/ Sabine River catch

Went for a solo trip today and was blessed with 20 pretty good crappie. Just 5 shy of the limit, but was well satisfied. Heck got to clean 'em too....Gotta love it..

    SHADOW,
I think the white bass have just about ran their course. The prime time for them starts about late January / early February each year I believe. I don't fool with them at all but have caught alot fishing for crappie. The catfish are doing will now on night crawlers fishing on the sandbars I've been told and my son has caught quite a few on rod and reel. I found the crappie on a sunken tree top off the river in a bay type area...still water. Fishing in 10' water and catching and depths in between. Lost a couple of jigs on hang ups but now worries I can make a bunch more. Primary jig I used today was a black/chart hair jig 1/16 oz. Had a great day by myself. My friend Bob and I plan on going back in the morning and try them again.....
