    That's how it used to be , Shadow, but they changed it a few years ago. You can donate to anybody now. State's missing out on a lot of sales taxes. Yes, you do need a notary. I know that because I'm a notary. LOL

    I bought a pontoon 2 years ago and a Tracker in December. I only paid sales tax on the trailer on both of them.

    Thanks for the info everyone. I’m looking at (have a good buddy looking at) a boat today. If I purchase, I’m definitely going to separate the boat, engine, and trailer on the bill of sale. Seems 50/50 on the folks that recently boat a boat and whether or not they had to pay taxes. Two things are for sure, I won’t volunteer them and they will find me if I owe them. Lol
