Default Henderson....Sunday..1/5/19....Ya Gotta Go To Know....

Really wanted to go drown a few shiners but looking at the conditions caused me to be very skeptical...I mean, barometer way up and water still rising and probably muddy....I figure maybe I can scare up 5 or 6....no need to wake up at 4 like I normally do....slept till 6...left home at 7...can't miss that Waffle House coffee and eggs after picking up shiners...got to the launch at 8:45....water up about a foot from last trip...did a long drive around to some of my spots and the water looked beautiful...not many folk out...saw a couple of guys spider rigging and the gar were keeping them pretty busy....no sacs tho...headed to my favorite spot for big fish....first thing I noticed was the water was pouring out of Henderson, not rising....and good color also....set my shiner for 10 ft deep and let'er rip...current was so strong that I could only let it go for about 4 or 5 feet before I had to pick it up.....first shiner, fish on, nice one, had to net it....second one, cork gone, another slab....third shiner about 3 minutes later, down it goes.....then nothing till I moved about an hour later....tried several more places and picked up 3 more keepers.....good water everywhere I went...and falling....these 6 were in the 12"- 13" range.....quit at 3:30.....a good day...and a safe day....

I just do not understand why this USGS Pelba gage is still showing rising water....I won't let it influence me in the future....

Fish still on ice...no pic yet.....

I would have thought the same thing with all the rain I got up here. You gotta go to know. Great catch.

Bruce maybe more water is coming in than going out, thus the current and the rise.

I finally figured that out....a big surge from up North overcoming the rising Atchafalaya River trying to come in from the south....must be some of that rain Skip got at his place....
